‘Furious 7’ Flogs Social Media

March 23, 2015 by Robert Marich Leave a Comment

The “Furious 7” cast shares a meal moment with fans on Instagram.

The car-crazed movie “Furious 7” is riding high in social media, including the clout of its stars, for what is projected as a huge opening.

Trade news website Deadline.com says that “film’s social-media outreach has been through the roof. RelishMix cites the “Fast & Furious” brand as the most social in terms of reach and engagement combined. ‘Furious 7‘s’ social-media universe stands at 865M followers/likes/subscribers, a total that outstrips online powers such as ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’, ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Hobbit.’”

Universal Pictures will open the PG-13-rated “Furious 7” on April 3.

What is the seventh installment of the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise is headed for a blockbuster $100 million-plus opening, according to tracking surveys.

“RelishMix counts 299M ‘Fast & Furious’ Facebook fans, 29M Twitter followers, 415M YouTube video views and 122M views on the official Facebook Page,” says the Deadline.com article by Anthony D’Alessandro.

Cast members like Vin Diesel provide an indirect boost; Diesel has 86.8 million Facebook “likes” and 2.6 million Instagram followers. Other Furious 7 cast members Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and rapper Lucacris also sport big social media followings.
