Tribeca Lands Bank Sponsor, Splits Financial

March 20, 2014 by Robert Marich Leave a Comment

Tribeca Festival 2014
Flim festivals like Tribeca are magnets for upscale consumer-goods marketers.

Boston-based Santander Bank kicks off its first-time sponsorship of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City with a sweepstakes. The “official bank” of the fest, Santander offers prizes of tickets to a private screening and a private reception attended by Robert De Niro.

“The Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of people each year who patronize local businesses and restaurants and we’re proud to lend our support to both the arts and the local economy,” Josephine Moran, Santander region president for New York and Northern New Jersey, says in a press release.

The sweepstakes runs until April 11. Winners will be announced April 15. The Tribeca fest runs April 16-27 in 2014.

Tribeca divides up the financial services category as, for example, its long-time credit/charge card sponsor has been American Express and last year had Oppenheimer for investment funds. The bank category wasn’t taken in 2013.

Santander is a unit of a Spanish bank that bought the Sovereign bank chain, which is renamed.
