Food marketer Kellogg’s and a cyberspace fashion commerce company are mounting separate movie apps. Kellogg’s offers a free casual video game for mobile devices tied to “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and fashionista enabler StylePic links to “The Other Woman.”

and maximize functionality on mobile devices like smart phones. The two apps indicate how movie promotions increasingly have an online component, or in the case of StylePic are completely online. So tie-in promotions are not just point of purchase signs in stores and messages on product boxes.
For the “Spidey” casual game, a Kellogg’s press release says consumers of its products run up points on its rewards program accompanying sweepstakes offers superhero fans more than 1,000 prizes, including a grand prize trip for two to New York City. Kellogg’s products tied to the “Spidey” promotion include Frosted Flakes, Pop Tarts, Froot Loops and Cheez-it. Sony Pictures will release “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in the U.S./Canadian market on May 2.
Elsewhere, StylePic has a promotion with “The Other Woman,” which 20th Century Fox premieres next Friday. StylePic is an app that lets the user identify clothing brands from pictures, which is handy for consumers who want to track down fashions for purchase.
So why is 20th Century Fox Involved asks a StylePic press release? Easy.
