Sponsors Embrace Brash Spirit Awards

February 22, 2013 by Robert Marich Leave a Comment

The Independent Spirit Awards cloaks itself with the aura of a maverick and virtue but is not shy about embracing the luxury side of corporate America.

The independent-film awards counts as main sponsors luxury wristwatch Piaget, Jameson Irish Whisky, upmarket Lincoln automobiles, T-Mobile cell phones and indie film TV channel IFC for its Saturday awards, which come one day before the Oscars. Stella Artois beer and Windows cell phones are sponsors of the after-event party. JPenneys and Joe Fresh are the official gift bag partners.

Flms are gritty in the indie sector, but its events high-class.

There is a long list of lesser corporate sponsors for the indie-film celebration.

The Hollywood Reporter is proud to return as the Official Media Partner of Piaget,” says a press release. “THR will be backstage with all the winners in the THR photo and video suite, directly adjoining partner Piaget’s exclusive lounge, capturing reactions and landing exclusive interviews.”
