Slot Machines License ‘Avatar’

Avatar Slot Machines
Though many merchandise avenues closed to restricted PG-13-rated films, gambling machines are a good fit given the adult orientation.

I’m going to have to add a new category to the list of movie licensed merchandise—the slot machine!

Gambling equipment manufacturer IGT has two slot machines that are movie themed: James Cameron’s Avatar and James Cameron’s Avatar Treasure of Pandora.

The slots are “packed with iconic imagery from the film and industry-first innovation. IGT collaborated with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and (Cameron’s) Lightstorm Entertainment to bring these captivating games to life,” says an IGT press release.

Says an IGT representative, “Avatar actor Stephen Lang (played Colonel Quaritch) did original voiceover work for the game as his movie character is very prominent in James Cameron’s AVATAR ™ Video Slots.”

Says a Hollywood Reporter story, “Avatar Video Slots is the first for IGT where players can track their progress and access additional content as they reach new levels. Treasures of Pandora showcases 3D visuals on a 42-inch vertical screen. The wide-area progressive video slot features two vertically stacked base games that when combined in a max wager bet offer over 7,000 ways to win. Bonuses include thematic content based on the film including The Hunt to search the forests for more credits and the Warrior Free Games where players choose which warrior they want to root for as they strive to collect enough symbols to garner a prize.”

The 2009 sci-fi epic “Avatar” was a blockbuster for 20th Century Fox and its audience classification is PG-13.
