The United States Postal Service adds Disney’s Pixar animation characters to the pantheon of Hollywood luminaries that have graced postage stamps. Some 125 million stamps in total will be issued with five different mixes of Pixar characters including Nemo and Squirt from “Finding Nemo,” and Woody, Bullseye and Jessie from “Toy Story 2.”
“These delightful stamps lift spirits and touch hearts and remind us that when it comes to connecting with loved ones, technology is no match for the mail,” said Jo Ann Feindt, Postal Service Southern Area vice president, in dedicating the stamps as part of the resort’s grand opening.
There are nine different stamp-collector products connected with Pixar series ranging from a First-Day Cover set priced at $4.45 to Uncut Press Sheets at $36. Stamp collectors order to get first-day-of-issue postmarks on Aug. 1.
In creating collectables, the USPS issues commemorative stamps of all kinds, including for popular culture icons. Hollywood luminaries who have had their own stamp include Humphrey Bogart, Mickey Mouse and filmmaker Frank Capra.
