Uni Offers Movie Jewelry Via HSN

May 9, 2012—Cable network HSN is marketing costume jewelry inspired by items seen in Universal Pictures over the years under the brand umbrella Universal Vault Collection.
“The debut collection will feature more than 40 unique pieces ranging in price from $22.95 for a pair of button pearl earrings with a pave frame to $199.95 for a canary and clear pear-shaped drop necklace,” says an HSN press release. “Other collection highlights include a regal emerald necklace, a stunning aqua and jonquil burst ring and multicolored cluster earrings with pearl accents…New themes and designs (will be) added throughout the year based upon additional films.”
The press release quotes Stephanie Sperber, President, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. “The collection is both glamorous and fashionable, pulling inspiration from Universal's classic films such as Pillow Talk, Female on the Beach, Lover Come Back, Madame X and other iconic films that starred legendary actresses including Joan Crawford, Doris Day and Lana Turner.”

The press release says that Universal Vault Collection is also promoted as the "Glamorous Women of Hollywood.”

A search of comes up with two pages of elegant—though somewhat dated—looking jewelry. Other than the words Universal Vault Collection, there is nothing else that associates the items to the movie industry. For example, there’s no reference in what movie the jewelry appears. Presenting photos of stars with jewelry would require permissions from the stars or their estates.
