Safe Sex Ads Play Off 'Straight Outta'

   Aug. 17, 2015-The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) mounted a public service campaign with key copy line Straight Outta Condoms, which was timed to coincide with the theatrical release of music rapper drama Straight Outta Compton. The AHF campaign has no official tie in with the Universal Pictures release.
   The AHF campaign that promotes safe sex using prophylatics rolled out with billboard advertising and bus bench ads in Los Angeles, and also an in-theater public service advertisement in 80+ theaters in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

   AHF says that the campaign playing off the movie’s key copy line is permissible under parody and First Amendment rights, so an unofficial association is fine.
