NY Post Splashes 'Sex and City' Premiere

    May 28, 2008 – The New York Post newspaper devoted a two-page spread and cover photo to the Sex and the City movie premiere, giving loads of splashy publicity to the Manhattan-centric movie.
    Says the article by three Post staffers, “Its stars got a thunderous reception outside Radio City Music Hall from adoring fans - many of whom were dressed to the nines while screaming and jumping at the sight of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis).”
    Crowds lined up with hopes of getting in, with a lucky few making it inside. “More than a thousand others were turned away, despite have first-come-first-serve vouchers they thought would get them in,” says the article. “Some were sent to a screening at a different theater, some were given passes to see the movie after its release Friday, and others were completely out of luck.”
    A second sidebar story headlined “Dazzling Fashions Let Stars Glitter” covered fashion. “From custom-made fripperies by hometown designers to armloads of diamonds by Fred Leighton, the premiere was a glitzy appetizer for the main course of fashion gourmandize,” says the article.
    The Post is owned by News Corp., whose businesses include 20th Century Fox. Sex and the City is distributed by Warner Bros./New Line Cinema.
