Mexican exhib preps luxury U.S. theater
Jan. 5, 2017—In a vote of confidence for U.S. cinema, a Mexico-based movie theater chain is enlarging its footprint north of its border, revamping an existing theater in New Jersey to its new Cinépolis Luxury Cinema concept. The luxury amenities will open in 2018, and tickets will be priced at $13-20, which is above the current U.S. average of around $8.50.
“Among the first theaters to be acquired during Cinépolis USA’s recent expansion into the Northeast, the forthcoming 12-screen
luxury and dine-in theater concept is expanding
Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas Parsippany marks the exhibitor’s first luxury theater in the region,” says a press release. The improvements will include “fully reclining leather seats, and in-theater dining service with stealth-like waiters delivering gourmet meals and full bar options via the touch of a button.” The upscale dine-in theater is a fast growing segment of exhbition.
Cinépolis entered the U.S. in 2011 and says it is the world’s fourth largest movie theater circuit.
