Another Mid East Film Bites Dust

   Warner Bros. released megawatt star vehicle Body of Lies to tepid weekend box office, as the Ridley Scott-directed drama becomes the latest of a long line of contemporary Middle East terrorism/war films to fail at the box office.
   The $70 million production starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe mustered just $13.1 million in weekend boxoffice. That ranks Body of Lies third place for what is its opening weekend. Holdover Beverly Hills Chihuahua was first in its second week.
   “With a debut estimated at just $13.1 million, Lies became the ninth contemporary war drama in the past two years to go largely ignored by moviegoers,” notes a USA Today article by Scott Bowles. “Since December 2006, the average haul for a Mideast war film has been only $11.2 million.”
